LAKE CITY, COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL –
Early morning shooting leaves one dead & one
wounded.
On Monday, June 28, 2021, at 2:45 A.M., officers from the Lake City Police Department were dispatched to NE Jackson Avenue at the intersection of Montana Street to reports of a person being shot.
Upon arrival, officers discovered one victim lying in the intersection who was deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.
Also stopped in the intersection was a vehicle with its passenger also suffering from gunshot wounds. The second victim was provided first aid by officers until EMS arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital.
“If you see something, say something. With the help of citizens in the neighborhood, our investigators have leads to follow, hopefully allowing them to identify a suspect(s) in this case.” stated Chief of Police Argatha Gilmore. "We continue to encourage our citizens to get involved and report all suspicious activities to our officers."
The name of the deceased victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
