The
Christmas Season
The Christmas holiday season is not far away
and the City Public Works Department has begun
putting up decorations downtown.
The Christmas lights will be turned on the
day after Thanksgiving.
City Utilities
The City Utility Advisory Committee will meet
on November 9, 2011, at 6 pm in City Hall. This
will be the first meeting since reorganization
of the Committee.
A number of important issues will be
discussed including the status of the
Kicklighter Wastewater Water Treatment Plant
Project; exchange of the City’s gas and water
meters to an automated “smart” metering system;
abandonment of the Elevated Water Tank located
on Escambia Street; and utility easement
property acquisition.
The City has the availability of substantial
Build America and Utility Bond Revenue along
with reserve utility funds to provide
flexibility in utility system upgrade needs.
The Advisory Committee will discuss system
upgrade options and priorities during the
meeting.
