From City Manager Wendell Johnson*
City Streets Improvements Project
The City Staff has completed the detailed work
description and cost projections for all
“Priority 1” street upgrades.
The priority 1 designation applies to those
streets, which are in the very worst condition,
based upon needed repairs and community
“level-of-service” impact. There are 11 priority
1 streets as follows:
Street Name
Repair Cost
Pearce Lane
$6,820
Brown Street
$23,100
Broadway Avenue
$55,660
Chestnut Avenue
$36,960
Hendrick Way
$17,500
Long Street
$96,470
Early Street
$38,940
Grandview Avenue
$25,200
Laurel Lane
$22,770
Florida Gateway Drive
$163,900
Biscayne Glynn
$61,160
The City Public Works Staff and contractor will
complete cost projections for the 36 “Priority
2” streets by July 22, 2011.
Within the limits of available funding, it is
anticipated that approximately 12 priority 2
streets will be repaired for a total project
cost of approximately $1,000,000.
The improvements to these streets will be paid
from Sales Tax Bond Revenue and will be apparent
to the citizens in these neighborhoods. The
Final project list will be presented to the City
Council on August 1, 2011 for consideration and
approval.
The work is projected to commence during the
first week in August.
This week from the staff reports. Some interesting facts.
