Columbia County Sheriff's Office Joins Other Florida Police Agencies in Accreditation

COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL – On Wednesday, June 26, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office received accreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation at their meeting in Orlando. Sheriff Mark Hunter was present and accepted a plaque signifying the achievement.
In April, CCSO underwent a detailed inspection by a team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation. The team examined all aspects of the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office’s policies and procedures, management, operations, and support services.
CCSO
was found to be in full compliance with the
required standards in order to receive
accredited status. Many of the 250 standards are
critical to life, health and safety issues.
CCSO’s accreditation is valid for 3 years. Verification by the assessors that CCSO meets the Commission’s high standards is part of a voluntary process to gain or maintain accreditation–a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence.
“When I took office in 2009, one of my goals was to ensure our community had a highly trained and capable law enforcement agency that our citizens could be proud of.” Sheriff Mark Hunter said, “Today we see the culmination of years of hard work toward that pursuit. I’m extremely proud of all the employees at CCSO, especially the command staff for their tremendous effort in guaranteeing success in this endeavor.”
