to adoption.

The Petco Foundation grant will help to sterilize approximately 1,000 shelter pets to prepare them for adoption into new homes. By offering pets that are already spayed or neutered as family companions, the grant will help to reduce the incidence of accidental litters, which will reduce the overall number of homeless pets in Columbia County.
According to the Humane Society/Animal Shelter's Executive Director, Laura Page, “This life-saving grant from Petco Foundation gives us the ability to not only prevent the birth of tens of thousands of unwanted puppies and kittens, but to also offer healthy, sterilized, microchipped, and vaccinated companions to Columbia County families at an affordable adoption price."
Ms. Page continued, "We are Petco Foundation Adoption Partners and the Foundation's support has given us the opportunity to participate in Mega Adoption and Super Adoption events in larger metropolitan markets. This has helped us find adoptive homes for over one hundred of our shelter pets in the last five months."
