Commissioner Weaver attends last Fort White Council meeting

After 12 years of attending the Town of Fort White Council meetings, last night Commissioner Dewey Weaver attended his last one as a County Commissioner.

As the meeting ended, Commissioner Weaver announced that the county is planning the dedication of the new Fort White library for the second Friday in November.

He then told the Council: "I will also tell you, this is my last meeting with the Fort White Town Council. By the time you meet again, you will have a new commissioner. Thank you for 12 years of working together. I hope we've made a difference."

After the meeting Councilman Donald Cook told the Observer: "Dewey's been a wonderful commissioner. He's been very aggressive in getting things done and always took care of the things that needed taking care of. He's always returned his phone calls."

The Observer asked Mayor Truitt George: "This was Dewey's last meeting. Would you like to say something nice?"

Mayor George:  I can't say anything bad about the man. He's been a great help to the Town of Fort White.
