Lake City Police Sergeant Marshall Sova Recognized for Life Saving Service

LAKE CITY, FL – Recently, Sergeant Marshall Sova was recognized for exceptional service.
On the morning of October 10th, 2015, the Lake City Police Department responded to a residence on SW Jaguar Drive for a report of a shooting. The shooting turned out to be a double homicide. There was a third gunshot victim.
The suspect, Khoa Trong Vu, shot and killed his wife and son. He also shot his daughter four times.
When Sergeant Sova arrived at the scene the
daughter was alive and lying in a pool of
blood and water. Sergeant Sova immediately
began first aid, which continued until EMS
arrived. Sergeant Sova's action contributed
to saving the daughter's life..
“We are very proud of Sergeant Sova,” said
Chief Argatha Gilmore. “His life-saving
efforts were a natural reaction without
second thought. We join the victim, her
family, and this community in thanking him
for what he did that night.”
Family members of the victim have since
contacted LCPD and expressed their gratitude
for his quick thinking.
Sergeant Sova visited the victim later at the hospital and has acted as a liaison to help the family thorough this tragic incident.
“I don’t know if I believe in angels, but on that night, he was my guardian angel,” said the victim.
