FDOT: Road Ranger Service Expands on I-10

LAKE CITY, FL – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is continuing the expansion of its Road Ranger program bringing additional assistance to motorists traveling on Florida’s roadways.
While the Road Ranger program has existed in the Jacksonville area since 2000, the program has recently seen additional expansion in Northeast Florida. FDOT has recently completed its service launch on Interstate 75 and is now launching new service routes on Interstate 10.
In
addition to the current service offered in
Duval County, I-10 Road Ranger service area
will now span from State Road 53 (Exit 258)
in Madison County and U.S. 301 (Exit 343) in
Duval County .
This expansion is tentatively scheduled to begin Monday, August 27, and will open in two phases. The first phase will include the area between U.S. 41 (Exit 301) in Columbia County and U.S. 301 (Exit 343) in Duval County. Road Ranger service in this area will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A second phase on Interstate 10 is scheduled to begin on September 17 from State Road 53 (Exit 258) in Madison County to U.S. 41 (Exit 301) in Columbia County. Motorists will be able to request Road Ranger assistance from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Road Ranger program provides free highway support services during incidents to reduce delay and improve safety for motorists.
Motorists can request Road Ranger service by dialing *347 (*FHP).
Since the program’s inception in 2000, the Road Rangers have made more than 4.3 million service assists with more occurring daily.
The Road Ranger Service Patrol conducts temporary traffic control operations for incidents, removes debris from the roadways, and provides assistance to stranded motorists. When Road Rangers are not responding to calls, they continuously patrol the expressways in their respective coverage areas, monitor traffic conditions, and report any new incidents they observe.
