Florida's official tourism promotion organization, VISIT FLORIDA, has awarded the Suwannee River Valley Marketing Group a $200,000 media package to be conducted in the Atlanta, GA, area during January of 2011.

Partnering with the Gwinnett Daily Post newspaper and Gwinnett County Public Schools, the month-long promotion will feature fitness and adventure as kids and their parents will read about Florida and answer questions from an activity page for a chance to win a five-day family vacation in Florida's Suwannee River Valley Region (Columbia, Hamilton and Suwannee Counties).

The vacation package will include lodging, canoeing and kayaking on the Suwannee River, visits to Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park and Ichetucknee Springs State Park. Meals at area restaurants and other adventure activities will be included.

As part of the promotion, the Suwannee River Valley will be included in 15 full-color ads in the Gwinnett Daily Post on five Sundays in January. The newspaper has a Sunday circulation of 104,000. In addition, the Suwannee River Valley will be featured  in the January edition of "Kidsville" with a circulation of 85,000 which is targeted towards all students in grades 1-5 in Gwinnett County. The promotion will also include logo, hyperlink, tagline, copy and images in the online contest page in the Gwinnett Daily Post and Kidsville online with an estimated 220,000 impressions. Additional newspaper ads and other promotional activities are included in the campaign.

The Suwannee River Valley has been an active participant in promotional campaigns with VISIT FLORIDA, having recently completed a month-long radio package with WMXJ-FM in the Miami market which included $278,000 in media value.
